Trump: I mean 48 hours for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, otherwise hell follows

The deadline set by former President Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz has expired, leaving the United States with limited options as tensions in the Middle East escalate. Trump issued an ultimatum on March 26, demanding Tehran’s compliance within ten days, threatening action if the waterway remained closed. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime passage for the transport of oil, natural gas, and fertilizers originating from the Persian Gulf.

Iran has largely restricted traffic through the strait since the start of the ongoing conflict. Just prior to the deadline, Trump stated he was giving Iran 48 hours before an “inferno” would erupt. Continuing conflict persists in the Middle East, with ongoing hostilities between Iran and Israel.

The United States and Israel initiated their first coordinated attacks against the Islamic Republic on February 28. Recent targets have included the Bushehr nuclear power plant and a petrochemical facility.
