The Gorica Police Department reported that they received notification around 11:40 a.m. regarding a fire occurring in the natural environment outside the Bate settlement within the Municipality of Nova Gorica. Initial estimates indicate that the blaze is currently affecting an area of approximately 40,000 square meters.
Firefighting efforts are being coordinated by a significant number of personnel from the JZ GRD Nova Gorica, PGD Nova Gorica, and PGD Čepovan. These teams are actively engaged in efforts to contain the spread of the fire and limit its scope. Aerial support is also in place, with aircraft equipped with AirTractor firefighting planes assisting ground crews.
Due to the active nature of the incident, safety protocols have been implemented in the surrounding area. Competent authorities at the Lijak airfield issued a directive prohibiting paraglider take-offs near the fire zone to ensure public safety. As crews continue working to extinguish the fire, the Police department stated they will issue further updates regarding the fire’s precise extent, the determined cause, and any other relevant circumstances surrounding the event in nova gorica.
