A significant number of cultural heritage monuments have sustained damage, encompassing numerous buildings within the historic settlement’s legacy. Many of these were individual houses, representing a vital part of the area’s heritage. Furthermore, approximately fourteen monuments of local or national significance have also been affected, according to Asta Vrečko, Minister of Culture.
She clarified that conservators initiated assessments of the damage at the conclusion of the previous week, and are presently gathering comprehensive data. A full financial evaluation of the losses will be determined following the completion of this data collection process. Ownership of the affected properties varies, ranging from private residents to municipal entities and the state.
Currently, it’s confirmed that fourteen cultural heritage monuments have been damaged, extending beyond just buildings to include several parks. Notably, the birthplace of Prešeren in Vrba was also impacted by the recent storm. The overall situation highlights the extensive damage to protected heritage sites.
