Croatian writer the first in the world to receive a groundbreaking therapy

Vedrana Rudan, a prominent Croatian writer, announced on Net.hr that she is the world’s first patient in Rijeka to receive treatment for the repercussions of cancer therapy utilizing a hyperbaric chamber. She shared that her experience has led to inclusion in the realm of global medicine, a surprising turn after her aspirations for recognition within world literature. Two and a half years prior, Rudan had received stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for liver metastases at a separate facility.

Unfortunately, this treatment resulted in a persistent duodenal ulcer, contributing to a weight loss of approximately fifteen kilograms. The Croatian doctor at KBC Rijeka reported that she endured continuous and severe abdominal pain alongside persistent nausea. This innovative treatment approach, administered at the SBC Rijeka hyperbaric chamber, represents a world first.

Rudan’s case highlights the potential benefits of this specialized therapy for individuals facing the challenges associated with cancer treatment outcomes. Her story underscores the dedication of medical professionals in Rijeka and their commitment to providing advanced care to patients around the world.
