As the Irish Times reported, the war in Ukraine has been compared to World War I several times since its beginning, mainly because of infantry attacks and the high number of casualties. It has already lasted 1,569 days or one day longer than World War I, which lasted four years and three months. Russian President Vladimir Putin, for example, believed in February 2022, when he attacked Ukraine, that the war would be over in just a few days.
