The PU Nova Gorica received notification of a missing person case originating in the Trnovo region, close to the Soča River, within the Kobarid municipality during the night. A vehicle belonging to the individual was discovered on a narrow, rural road adjacent to a pasture, situated in the broader settlement area. Upon receiving the urgent alert, officers from the Tolmin Police Station, alongside specialist dog handlers from the Miren Unit of the PU Nova Gorica, swiftly initiated operations to locate the missing person.
The search commenced in the notoriously difficult and undulating terrain. The police team’s efforts were subsequently bolstered by the participation of mountain rescuers from the Tolmin Mountain Rescue Service (GRS). These skilled rescuers joined the search operation, dedicating their expertise to the challenging environment.
Two hours after the initial alert, the mountain rescuers successfully located the missing person. The individual was found to be injured and suffering from the effects of exposure to the cold. The operation highlighted the crucial role of coordinated police and rescue services in ensuring the safety of a vulnerable person.
