Mountain Rescue Operation Conducted on Northern Triglav
A complex rescue operation was underway overnight in the area of the northern Triglav wall following the disorientation of two foreign climbers. On Saturday at approximately 5:00 a.m., the climbers initiated an ascent towards Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak. According to the Mountain Rescue Service, the climbers became lost on particularly challenging terrain, conditions deemed unsafe for continued progress due to the prevailing winter weather.
Darkness descended as the situation developed, complicating the rescue efforts. The climbers contacted emergency services at 10:30 p.m. to report their predicament.
Initial attempts to deploy a helicopter were unsuccessful due to the late hour. Subsequently, a team from the Mojstrana GRS (Mountain Rescue Service) proceeded to the climbers’ location on foot, navigating extremely demanding winter conditions. Details regarding the climbers’ condition and the progress of the rescue are currently unavailable.
The operation remains ongoing, highlighting the inherent risks associated with climbing in challenging environments and the critical role of mountain rescue services.
