Veteran Slovenian Gymnast Drago Šoštarič Achieved International Success

Drago Šoštarič, born December 31, 1942, established a distinguished career in gymnastics, playing a key role in elevating the sport’s profile within both Yugoslav and Slovenian circles. His journey began with Partizan Železničar Maribor, contributing to a generation that secured a significant place on the international stage. Šoštarič’s competitive highlights include a fourth-place finish with the Yugoslav team at the 1970 World Championships held in Ljubljana.

This team was comprised of Miro Cerar, Janez Brodnik, Miloš Vratič, Milenko Kersnič, and Avgust Küsel. He also represented Yugoslavia at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, where the team secured twelfth position. Throughout his career, Šoštarič participated in numerous other major competitions, showcasing his skill and dedication.

Notably, he last competed for the team in 1976 at the Balkan Championships in Thessaloniki, contributing to a bronze medal victory for the Yugoslav gymnasts.
