Slovenia Braces for Prolonged First Heat Wave This Summer
The Agency for the Environment is forecasting the arrival of Slovenia’s first heat wave later this week, with anticipated impacts lasting through the middle of next. The period is expected to bring elevated temperatures across the country. The most intense phase of the heat wave is predicted to occur between Saturday, June 20th, and Tuesday, June 23rd.
Daytime temperatures are expected to reach between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius across most of Slovenia. Higher elevations, including the Gorski Kotar and Vipava Valley regions, may experience temperatures several degrees above this range. Initial conditions will be characterized by dry heat, however, the Agency anticipates a gradual increase in humidity beginning Monday.
This rise in humidity is expected to elevate the possibility of heat storms. This heat wave aligns with broader European weather patterns, with significant impacts anticipated across western Europe. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take appropriate precautions during this period.
