The fastest trio defends the organizers: ‘They did an outstanding job’

The situation at the Goiania racetrack was precarious following a period of intense rainfall preceding the Grand Prix. Heavy water accumulation had created significant issues for the organizers before the Saturday sprint race, raising serious doubts about its continuation due to a puncture in the asphalt. Thankfully, the problem was ultimately addressed, allowing the riders to compete on the track.

Marc Marquez emerged as the fastest, securing victory in the sprint. However, the challenges persisted throughout the weekend. The Sunday race was dramatically shortened by eight laps, attributed to the “degradation of the track surface.” Even as the motorcycles began to accelerate and the race commenced, further complications arose.

Riders repeatedly reported being struck by loose fragments of asphalt detaching from the track. Several riders experienced direct impacts. Alex Rins sustained a hit to his finger, Enea Bastianini reported a piece striking his arm, and Joan Mir suffered a knee injury – all confirming the severity of the situation.

The consistent and widespread nature of these incidents underscored the ongoing difficulties presented by the compromised track conditions.
