The DVK rejects the SDS’s allegations about the illegality of early elections

The legal framework dictates that a referendum election takes place within the boundaries of the district. To facilitate this, 24 polling stations are strategically positioned outside the district’s territory, twelve of which are situated in Ljubljana’s Stožice area. Janez Janša contends that these polling stations are unlawful, and therefore, any voting conducted there is also illegitimate.

The SDS has formally filed an objection with the State Election Commission (DVK) concerning the creation of these special pre-referendum polling stations. The objection specifically addresses the consolidation of multiple electoral districts into a single polling location and the implementation of a separate polling station outside each district’s boundaries. The SDS argues this represents a clear breach of the law governing elections to the National Assembly.

Janša is urging citizens to abstain from participating in the pre-referendum vote. Svoboda has characterized this action as a deceptive tactic. They cite Article 69 of the ZVDZ, asserting that pre-referendum voting must occur at a designated location.

These polling stations are crucial for ensuring a fair and compliant referendum process. The debate highlights concerns about the legality and implementation of the voting arrangements.
