The ban on Rok Snežič’s entry into BiH is unlawful

In 2020, security agencies within BiH designated Snežič as a risk to the nation’s security and integrity, subsequently implementing a travel ban preventing his entry. The BiH entry ban was determined to be unlawful by the court, as has now been established. The court awarded my minor son, the plaintiff, a compensation of 16,000 KM (€8,181) to address non-material damage stemming from the violation of his personal rights.

This decision reflects the significant distress caused by the unlawful restriction. As Snežič explained, “The judgment from the highest BiH court, received by my seven-year-old son, is against BiH, because the state unlawfully prohibited my entry into BiH for four years and thus infringed upon his human rights (Article 8 of the Convention on Human Rights – the right to family life).”

The ruling underscores the importance of upholding fundamental rights within BiH. The court’s decision highlights the state’s responsibility to respect individual liberties and the protection of family life, as guaranteed by international human rights conventions.
