During a ceremony on October 15, Valentin Hajdinjak, then representative of Darsa, and Infrastructure Minister Jernej Vrtovec symbolically marked the resumption of work on the third development axis in Korošci by planting the first shovel. Hajdinjak outlined the phased development plan for the infrastructure project. He specified that the initial phase involves constructing a 200-meter, four-lane express road within the 61-kilometer northern section of the axis, which is expected to be completed within 14 months.
Looking ahead, the Velenje-Slovenj Gradec section is expected to be built between 2025 and 2026. Furthermore, the Velenje-Šentrupert section, for which land acquisition is currently underway, is expected to be built in 2027. This development axis has resumed its status following a four-year period during which the political landscape saw the project in opposition.
While Hajdinjak has since returned to his role as defense minister, the construction process continues, although some initial sections are proceeding without a final building permit. The announcement confirms the commitment to developing the critical transport link through the region, particularly the area around Velenje, solidifying the timeline for when these major segments are expected to be built.
