Tea collected one million, need another 1.5 million after rejection of ZZZS

David Slodnjak, the father of a patient needing urgent medical intervention, stated that time is critical for his son, whose illness is advancing and requires gene therapy while he remains mobile. He emphasized the necessity of rapidly collecting funds to facilitate travel to the United States for treatment. Slodnjak noted that the refusal of the ZZZS to cover necessary treatment costs has significantly impacted the family, although they had anticipated such an outcome.

He referenced a successful fundraising effort previously organized by Slovenian heart ladies and members of the Slovenian community for another patient, Jak, who subsequently received treatment in the U.S. Speaking about the current situation, Slodnjak reported that the fundraising campaign has successfully accumulated over one million euros, specifically reaching €1,037,000. However, the family stated that a remaining goal of €1.5 million is still required to cover the full scope of the necessary care for his son.

The appeal seeks support for the boy, describing his condition as a severe challenge. Slodnjak urged the public to contribute, framing the donation effort as crucial for ensuring that the necessary medical procedures can take place in the U.S. The continued effort aims to secure the full funding needed to support the boy’s treatment pathway.
