Freedom Party Seeks Nataša Avšič Bogovič as Deputy Speaker
The Freedom Party (Deseti združini) has announced its intention to nominate Nataša Avšič Bogovič for the role of Deputy Speaker within the National Assembly (DZ). This nomination, alongside those of Franc Križan (Democrats) and Danijel Krivec (Social Democratic Union – SDS), would fill three of the permitted Deputy Speaker positions. Danijel Krivec’s appointment was finalized following a secret ballot, securing 84 affirmative votes and four dissenting votes.
Franc Križan, supported by the Democrats and the Truth party, garnered 86 votes in favor, with a two-vote opposition. The National Assembly is authorized to designate up to three Deputy Speakers, a requirement stipulating that one must be selected from the largest opposition group. These Deputy Speakers will provide administrative support to the President of the DZ and undertake specific duties as assigned.
Their terms will conclude after the initial session of the newly elected National Assembly. This appointment process reflects the ongoing formation of leadership within the legislative branch.
