Slovenian Riders Secure Historic MXGP Podium
Tim Gajser and Jan Pancar achieved a landmark podium finish in the MXGP class for Slovenia, marking the first time either rider has secured such a result within the competition’s history. The accomplishment represents a significant milestone for both competitors. For Jan Pancar, this podium represents his highest career achievement to date.
Prior to this result, he had previously achieved fourth place in the qualifying race held in Germany last year and had not previously achieved a top-ten finish in qualifying races awarding points during the 2026 season. Tim Gajser’s qualifying result is the best achieved by a Slovenian rider in the 2026 season. Prior to the Montevarchi event, Gajser had secured second and third place finishes.
Gajser ultimately won the qualifying race by a margin of 4.8 seconds, with Italian rider Andrea Adamo finishing in third place for the 2026 season. The overall standings leader, Belgian Lucas Coenen, finished sixth in the qualifying event, while Frenchman Benoit Fournier also secured a position within the top ten. This qualifying test highlighted strong performances from Slovenian riders.
