Parliamentary Groups Propose Changes to Electoral Rules
Zoran Stevanović, President of the Truth group, stated that the proposal to amend the procedures governing the National Assembly (DZ) was initially brought forward by Truth. He expressed disappointment that the suggested changes were not originating from within the group itself. Despite this, Stevanović affirmed his “absolute support” for the amendment and confirmed that the Truth group intends to actively support it during its discussion within the DZ.
The Freedom, Levica, and Vesna parliamentary groups have introduced a motion advocating for stricter regulations surrounding the handling of ballots. The proposed changes would deem any marking on ballots as invalid. Furthermore, the motion prohibits MPs from displaying ballots to other members or photographing them, extending this restriction to members of the electoral commission during ballot counting.
The proposed rules also include a ban on the introduction of electronic devices into voting booths. The intention, according to the groups, is to ensure the integrity of the voting process and maintain the truthfulness of the electoral outcome. The debate surrounding these proposed rules is expected to be a key point of discussion within the DZ.

“It’s concerning to see these changes being pushed forward without a full understanding of the potential implications for electoral integrity.”
