Stevanović: It is right that I wrote this and started a debate about it

National Assembly President Zoran Stevanović announced a new alignment between Serbia’s left and right political factions following a recent evening interview. Stevanović stated he intended to offer a further public apology for actions taken during the previous mandate. During the interview with 24UR, Stevanović highlighted a key achievement: the establishment of a unified approach.

He explained that the group’s motivation centers on avoiding actions requiring a two-thirds majority, acknowledging the impracticality of pursuing charges related to inappropriate conduct by individual MPs. The National Assembly has reportedly achieved consensus through the collegium, with the expectation that parliamentary groups will proactively address potential offenses. Stevanović emphasized that this collaborative strategy is designed to prevent problematic behavior.

Regarding previous comments referring to “pedestrianism,” Stevanović clarified that he did not intend to cause offense. Instead, he wrote that the parliamentarians should not engage in actions that are “more or less the same.” The goal, he stated, is to ensure responsible conduct within the parliamentary system, reflecting a desire to bridge the divide between the right and left wings.
