The HK Olimpija Ljubljana hockey team secured their first victory of the ICE League semifinal series against Pustertal on Sunday, and forward Jaka Sodja attributed the win to a straightforward and effective game plan. “It’s a great feeling to overcome an excellent goalie and score three goals,” Sodja stated following the match. Pustertal had previously dominated the first three games of the series, winning with a score of 3:0.
However, the South Tyrol team struggled offensively throughout those contests. When questioned about the key difference in this game compared to previous meetings, Sodja highlighted the team’s altered approach. “We focused on a simple game,” he explained.
“In the locker room, we decided to prioritize getting the puck into the net and scoring opportunistic goals.”
Sodja added that the team’s success stemmed from executing this strategy effectively. “Fortunately, it worked out for us this time,” he concluded.
