The Piran Bay hosted a vibrant influx of activity this week, drawing nearly 100 handball teams from six nations alongside a significant number of sailing optimist class competitors. Crowds also gathered along the coastal promenades and within the city, reflecting the favorable weather conditions that made the region particularly appealing to visitors. The ideal weather played a crucial role in attracting recreational enthusiasts, with many engaging in activities such as walking, cycling, and the commencement of the tennis season.
“The most visitors come from Austria, Germany, or the Czech Republic and Slovakia,” stated Hari Ambrožič from the Tennis academy Portorož. Tourism professionals have observed a return of Italian visitors in recent times. However, this year, the largest number of foreign guests originated from outside the region.
“I like these places, I like the tennis courts, the people, your food. I like your country, so I come here,” one visitor shared.
