Ljubljana secured a crucial victory over Pustertal, winning game four of the ICE League semifinals and extending the series. The win marked Ljubljana’s first triumph in the best-of-five matchup, ensuring the continuation of the season. Nik Simšič, a key player for Ljubljana, highlighted the significance of the team’s initial goal.
“The first goal was definitely crucial to gaining a little self-confidence,” Simšič stated following the game. “We have not scored for a long time.”
The atmosphere within the Tivoli hall played a vital role in Ljubljana’s success. Simšič described the environment as “phenomenal,” admitting he was momentarily overwhelmed by the emotional intensity.
“I got a little confused, I don’t know where the ball went,” he added, reflecting the heightened excitement of the moment. The victory provided a much-needed boost for Ljubljana, who had endured a recent period of difficulty, including three consecutive losses without registering a goal. The team’s ability to capitalize on the early opportunity proved decisive in securing the win and maintaining their competitive position in the ICE League.
