Shi and Trump on the ‘fantastic future’, Taiwan as a risk factor

During a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and former U.S. President Donald Trump, the discussions extended beyond their initial schedule. During the talks, Xi Jinping stressed the importance of maintaining stable relations between China and the United States, arguing that such stability provides a significant advantage to the global community.

He stated that cooperation benefits both nations, whereas confrontation would be detrimental to both sides. Xi emphasized the need for the two countries to function as partners rather than rivals, assessing that the world has reached a new juncture. In response, Trump highlighted what he viewed as a special relationship with Xi Jinping.

According to his statements, Trump expressed confidence in the bilateral ties, asserting that he has consistently been able to resolve disagreements with Xi. He conveyed his sentiment by saying, “I am honored to be your friend, relations between China and the US will be better than ever before.”
