Serbian MiG-29 hunters with the most modern Chinese missile

The Serbian military aviation’s recent publication of a MiG-29 photograph has generated considerable discussion among military analysts. The image reveals the fourth-generation fighter jet equipped with a Chinese CM-400AKG missile, mounted beneath its wings. This weapon system is manufactured by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).

Introduced in 2012, the CM-400AKG missile measures approximately 5.3 meters in length and weighs around 900 kilograms. It is designed to carry either a 150-kilogram or 200-kilogram warhead. Experts note that the missile operates at a high supersonic speed, with CASIC asserting a terminal velocity of 4.5 Mach.

While often categorized as hypersonic, The Warzone, an American source, suggests this description is likely inaccurate. The supersonic speed limit for the missile is generally understood to be five Mach. Notably, the CM-400AKG missile is compatible with lighter fighter aircraft, such as the Chinese JF-17.

This capability expands its potential operational range and deployment options. The Serbian military’s acquisition of this advanced missile highlights evolving international defense strategies.
