Red alert for three Croatian regions: weather extremely dangerous

Heatwave Warnings Issued Across Adriatic Region Through Thursday

A significant heatwave risk is currently in effect across the Adriatic region, with an orange warning issued for widespread areas until Thursday. This indicates a high probability of intense heat waves impacting the region. The Croatian Meteorological Service, Net.hr, reports that a yellow warning is also in place for the Knin region, signifying a moderate level of heat risk within that area.

Temperatures are expected to peak between 33 and 38 degrees Celsius daily, with inland areas potentially reaching as high as 35 degrees Celsius by the end of the week. Crucially, nighttime temperatures will offer little relief, remaining elevated. The combination of high air temperatures and sea temperatures – forecast to remain above 20 degrees Celsius during periods of extreme heat – presents additional dangers, particularly for those engaging in maritime activities.

Many Slovene residents are also traveling to the Adriatic coast to seek cooler temperatures. Authorities are advising caution and awareness of the elevated heat risk and the potential for heat-related illnesses. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated and limiting strenuous outdoor activity.
