Pogačar after the fall remained without a significant assistant

Twenty-four kilometers before the race’s conclusion, a significant crash unfolded in the race’s central section. Swiss cyclist Jan Christen, a teammate of Tadej Pogačar, and Venezuelan rider Orluis Aular from Movistar, were involved. Both athletes were forced to abandon the competition prematurely.

Tadej is relentlessly pursuing his second victory of the current season. He currently wears the competition jersey for a second time, following his triumph at the Strade Bianche macadam classic in Siena just two weeks prior. The Milano-Sanremo course, while not as demanding as other races, still motivates the 27-year-old to strive for success, considering his previous placements of twelfth, fifth, fourth, and third in the last two seasons.

“It’s no secret that this is a race in which I sincerely want to win,” stated Tadej. “I believe that the route profile is right for me, but it’s also suitable for many other riders after this event.”
