Orban visited the Turkish Stream pipeline after a presumed sabotage attempt

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stressed the critical importance of safeguarding the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) following recent events. Speaking at a press conference alongside Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, broadcast across social media platforms, Orban characterized the situation as “extremely serious.”

The discussion centered on the pipeline’s role as a vital energy supply route. Orban highlighted that while alternative oil sources exist, the TAP represents a significantly more crucial artery for the Hungarian economy.

He warned that disruption of this pipeline would effectively halt Hungary’s economic activity. The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline transports Russian gas originating in Turkey, flowing through Bulgaria and Serbia before reaching Hungary. Connections extend to Slovakia and Austria.

In response to reported attempts to sabotage the pipeline on the Serbian side, Orban stated that Hungary provided military protection for the Hungarian segment. He emphasized the need for ongoing vigilance and inspections to ensure the pipeline’s continued operation and security.
