The initiative for a referendum was launched and signed by former members of the Human Rights Protection Committee, which was established 38 years ago, Franco Juri, Pavel Gantar, Spomenka Hribar, Gregor Tomc, Rastko Močnik, Igor Vidmar and Vlado Miheljak. The new law, which was adopted by the DZ at the end of May on the proposal of the SDS and the tripartite NSi, SLS and Fokus, abolishes the possibility for individuals who are the subject of an investigation to appeal to the Constitutional Court against the unconstitutional commissions or their unconstitutional decisions. The Constitutional Court can now only be appealed against the compatibility with the Constitution and the law by the Judicial Council or the General State Prosecutor within 30 days after the parliamentary investigation has been completed.
