The head of the blood donation process at the Transfusion Center, Biserka Dvoršič, confirmed that the donors of the 221st and 222nd blood collections in the UKC Maribor were, indeed, the 221st and 222nd in order. She noted a positive trend, stating that younger individuals are also participating in significant numbers, allowing the blood donor groups to diversify in age. Jožef Gantar, a dedicated donor, donated his blood for the 221st time and initiated the 222nd donation, as he explained.
He began his blood-giving journey back in 1986, initially motivated by a desire to return home from the army two days sooner. Now approaching his 60th birthday in December, Gantar reflected on his commitment. He initially started donating blood after receiving extra days off work.
“The older you get, the more it’s about helping someone else; you never know when you’ll need it yourself,” he commented. This led to his continued participation, encompassing the 221st and 222nd donations.
