Footage from the beginning of April documented the Senica Law Firm celebrating its 40th anniversary. However, underlying financial difficulties appear to contradict the firm’s outwardly successful image, which currently employs 25 personnel. Since the beginning of May, the firm has faced significant banking restrictions, resulting in the blocking of several bank accounts, with the most recent closure occurring last Monday.
According to publicly available data in Slovenia, the firm currently maintains only one active operational account: a fiduciary account. This specialized account is designated for holding client funds, separate from the firm’s operational capital. Additionally, the firm manages three separate accounts in foreign jurisdictions.
Katarina Kresal, who previously served as the LDS president and Interior Minister during Borut Pahor’s government, and who holds a co-ownership stake exceeding half of the law firm’s shares, addressed the media regarding the situation. She explained that the current blockage stems from an inspection control process. This review specifically pertains to the financial activities recorded during the years 2020 and 2021.
