New Fiesa for almost 900,000 euros, but there are also criticisms

The development of the “green Fiesa” area in Piran has been completed, according to local reports. This significant zone, situated between the Adriatic Sea and two smaller inland lakes, has undergone extensive infrastructural improvements. The municipality undertook a project that involved restoring aging amenities and enhancing the public space.

The revitalization effort included the installation of new paths, the construction of updated showers and toilets, and the planting of 58 new trees. The total investment allocated for these improvements amounted to nearly 900,000 euros. However, the development has met with criticism from environmental groups.

The Civil Initiative for Piran has voiced concerns, arguing that the scale of the intervention represents an unbalanced modification of the natural environment. Critics contend that the area’s transformation into a highly managed park setting compromises its natural character. They maintain that the extensive development, while providing amenities, may negatively impact the ecological balance of the historic area surrounding Fiesa.
