In a recent appearance on the 24UR NEWS show, Robert Golob outlined the scope of the proposed “shadow government” initiative, clarifying that its function extends beyond mere political maneuvering. He emphasized that the structure is designed to serve as a platform for developing comprehensive, long-term solutions by integrating expertise from diverse sectors, including academia, the economy, and civil society. Golob stated that the core objective is constructive rather than critical.
“Our intention is not criticism. Our intention is to offer better opportunities,” he remarked. To achieve this, the plan involves establishing specialized expert councils across various fields.
These councils will be tasked with drafting detailed “white books” outlining Slovenia’s development strategies for the next five to ten years. A key component of this process is the commitment to neutrality. Golob explained that these expert bodies will comprise apolitical members, drawing talent from institutions such as universities and research institutes, alongside economic leaders.
Furthermore, he delineated the scope of the initiative, clarifying that the shadow government will not be responsible for drafting actual legislation. Instead, its role is to prepare robust, well-researched solutions intended to inform and guide the legislative agenda during the next mandated government term. This approach aims to ensure that future laws are grounded in comprehensive, non-partisan expert consensus.
