New cases of smallpox in Croatia

The disease was confirmed in two epidemiologically linked flocks of sheep with a total of more than 1,000 sheep in the Daruvar area in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County. In both flocks, the disease was suspected based on clinical signs in the animals, which included fever, diarrhea, pneumonia, and death. In one flock, 14 sheep died, and in the other, 15.

The competent services immediately began to implement the prescribed measures, including the closure of the facility, the killing of animals, cleaning and disinfection, and epidemiological investigations to determine the source of the infection. The sheep were photographed by Bobo Iz from the administration.
