The government has maintained the current price of gasoline while implementing measures to reduce the cost of diesel and heating oil. Following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East and subsequent increases in fuel prices, the government has temporarily suspended the environmental tax on fuel. According to the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy, without this intervention, consumers would face significantly higher prices.
A projected cost of 1.819 euros per liter for 95-octane gasoline, 2.077 euros per liter for diesel, and 1.761 euros per liter for heating oil was outlined. To mitigate price increases, regulations limit the profit margins for fuel retailers. Diesel fuel margins are capped at 0.0983 euros per liter, 95-octane gasoline at 0.0994 euros per liter, and heating oil at 0.08 euros per liter.
These retail price limits are directly influenced by the prevailing price of diesel, which is set at 0.0994 euros per liter, and heating oil at 0.08 euros per liter. These measures are in place to address rising fuel costs and ensure affordability for consumers.
