The Slovenian Mountain Rescue Association has released comparative data regarding rescue operations conducted in the mountains over the past months. The association noted a decrease in the number of rescues carried out during June; last year, 104 rescues were reported, compared to 88 interventions carried out in June of the current year. When examining July data, the figures show an increase.
Last year, 98 interventions were carried out, while this year, the number rose to 121. Helicopter assistance was also tracked, showing 34 helicopter interventions carried out in June and 59 in July. Analyzing historical trends, the association’s statistics indicate a slight increase in accidents in August compared to July.
This trend is attributed to a corresponding rise in the number of visitors to mountainous areas. The primary causes cited for rescue operations remain insufficient knowledge of the terrain and slips. Furthermore, the number of rescues involving injuries has also been observed to increase.
Regarding specific intervention locations, the association highlighted the areas around Triglav and the Triglav Lakes within the Julian Alps, as well as the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
