The Hungarian politician threatened with the abolition of the state television after a heated interview

Peter Magyar, the newly elected Prime Minister of Hungary, has made appearances on national public media following his victory, resulting in tense exchanges. Euronews reports that Magyar has already announced plans to cease broadcasting through the national public media. This marked Magyar’s first appearance on the public media platform in 18 months, despite prior invitations extended by the MTVA, the state media body, during the campaign.

These invitations were reportedly declined by Magyar and a representative from his party. Following his election win, Magyar has conducted two interviews. The first was on public radio, and the second on television.

Both interviews were characterized by a strained atmosphere, including sharp responses, interruptions, and accusations between Magyar and the interviewer. During one exchange, Magyar stated, “One of the elements of our program is that this factory of lies will end when the Tisza government is formed.” The Tisza party is Magyar’s political party.
