Lindsey Vonn almost lost her leg, now she spoke about her return to the white slopes

Lindsey Vonn commenced the Winter Olympic Games this year with recently refined front cruciate ligaments in her left knee, yet she remained steadfast in her ambition to secure her fourth Olympic medal. Unfortunately, her aspirations were swiftly dashed; she began the competition in thirteenth position and concluded her run after just thirteen seconds, a fall resulting in a mournful sound at the finish line. The event in Cortina was marked solely by Lindsey Vonn’s expressions of pain.

Following the incident, she required assistance from a rescue helicopter to depart the Olympic ski jumping venue. The injuries sustained were extensive, encompassing a broken fibula, tibia, and ankle. These severe wounds necessitated several weeks of hospitalization, numerous surgical procedures, and nearly resulted in the amputation of her left leg.

“I was number one in the world and perhaps on course for an Olympic medal,” stated Lindsey Vonn, “but now I am reliant on a wheelchair. I have undergone considerable surgery and almost lost my left leg.”
