Janković with a political offer of the initiative that answers: ‘Our contacts are known’

The Ljubljana city municipality has reversed its decision to implement a new traffic regulation decree following significant public opposition. Deputy Mayor Crnek stated that the withdrawal was a direct response to the strong desire voiced by people who were dissatisfied with the proposed solution. “If so many expressed the wish that they do not like this solution, we will use the old decree, which still allows us a lot,” he explained.

The city council voted to withdraw the decree this week, a move that initially created a legal uncertainty. Officials deny the decision represents a concession to civil society, which has been advocating for a referendum on July 12 to allow citizens to formally voice their opinion. The key factor in the reversal lies in a subsequent change of circumstance, rendering the initially opposed decree legally invalid.

City officials have engaged with various legal institutions to clarify the situation. As Hočevar noted, “The ball is not in our court, but in the hands of the professional services, to explain the legal entanglement.” The municipality is currently focused on resolving the legal complexities arising from the situation.

  1. This shows a clear disregard for the concerns of the citizens and a need for better communication.
