Iran ready for both negotiations and war with the USA

Iran Signals Flexibility Amidst Stalled Negotiations with the US

Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi stated that Iran is prepared to pursue both diplomatic solutions and continued assertive measures to safeguard its national interests and security. This follows a period of relative calm since a ceasefire, established on April 8, between the United States and Iran. Negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing impasse have stalled, despite recent efforts to restart dialogue.

Following initial talks in Islamabad, Pakistan’s assistance did not yield significant progress. Delegations from the US and Iran met on April 11th to discuss a resolution, but a subsequent round of negotiations has not yet been scheduled. The United States maintains its position, asserting that it has seized a vessel, its cargo, and oil reserves, characterizing the operation as a “lucrative business.” Washington continues to enforce a blockade of Iranian shipping through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and maintains restrictions on Iranian port access.

Garibabadi indicated that Iran is willing to explore both pathways forward, suggesting a willingness to engage in discussions while simultaneously protecting its national interests. Pakistan facilitated discussions between the two nations on Thursday evening.

  1. “It’s a concerning acknowledgment of a precarious situation and highlights the urgent need for de-escalation.”
