Their team detected the presence of sludge within Bohinj Lake. This sludge carries a risk because it can facilitate the formation of toxic anatoxins, a substance previously linked to the poisoning of dogs in the area last year. The mayor stated that while the amount of sludge detected this year is not extensive, the local government is adopting the recommendations provided by scientific experts.
These experts caution against any direct contact with the sludge, particularly any contact that could lead to ingestion. This advisory aligns with findings from the Ciano SLO project experts. While the project noted that the presence of sludge itself is not inherently a problem, the municipality is adhering strictly to the expert advice to prevent contact with the material, emphasizing the risk associated with ingesting it.
