Hervis Slovenia Planning Store Closures, Focus Shifts to Austrian Market
Vienna-based retail group Hervis, recently undergoing a change in ownership, is reportedly concentrating its operations primarily on the Austrian market. According to current information, the company intends to close all of its stores within Slovenia by the end of July, though specific details remain unconfirmed. “We have not received concrete information from the management team.
Despite contacting individuals, the trade union has yet to receive an official notification,” stated Lepa Vasilič from the Trade Union of Shop Workers of Slovenia. The union has repeatedly requested an official announcement. Hervis Slovenia has experienced challenging financial performance in recent years.
In 2024, the company concluded the year with a loss of approximately four million euros. “This loss may be attributable to unfavorable business conditions during the recent period,” assessed Mariča Lah from the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. The company’s performance has been under scrutiny.
One of Hervis’s direct competitors is currently being investigated. The future of the remaining Hervis stores remains uncertain as the company shifts its strategic focus. The closure of the Slovenian stores is planned for the end of July.
