The authorities demolished it after years of legal wrangling with the owner, the top floors of the building having vanished in a matter of hours, leaving only the bottom floors. Chen Tianming, 43, had been building the house for eight years.
He added new floors of bamboo and timber to the bungalow where he lived with his parents, until the pyramid-shaped house rose ten storeys high, reports the Guardian. Local authorities claimed it was built without a permit.
