Firefighters intervened in Celje hospital due to mercury this time

The hospital facility will collect silver balls provided by firefighters in a specialized container for transfer to an authorized waste disposal contractor. Separately, an incident involving the breakage of an ampoule containing live silver occurred in a physics classroom, resulting in the immediate sealing of the area. This follows a similar incident that took place at Kranj Gymnasium on Thursday, where approximately two deciliters of mercury spilled within a classroom setting.

Firefighters were able to recover the majority of the spilled substance during Thursday’s clean-up effort; however, some mercury was found to have leaked beneath the parquet flooring. Consequently, the affected classroom remains sealed until safety officials confirm it is fully secure for use. Normal academic activities are continuing in all other classrooms within the facility.
