For the first time in 23 years: wheelchair basketball players in the elite

In a recent wheelchair basketball match, Slovenia faced Lithuania. The contest featured notable performances by Slovenian player Drago Perko. During the semifinals, Slovenia established an early lead, leading 0:5.

Earlier in the tournament, in the quarterfinals, Slovenia secured a victory with a score of 12:15. The match against Lithuania was highly competitive. When Lithuania took the lead at the 18:17 mark, Slovenia’s coach, Žiga Kobaševič, called a one-minute break.

By the 19th minute, Lithuania held a 25:21 advantage. However, Milan Slapničar and David Škorjanc contributed key points in the final moments, ensuring the team’s success. The third quarter also saw Lithuania starting with a lead, leading 28:25.

The momentum shifted during the 28:27 attack when Robi Bojenec scored, giving Slovenia a 28:29 lead. Subsequently, Bojenec contributed four consecutive points, and David Škorjanc scored with time remaining, reaching a score of 32:33. These points were scored with two minutes remaining in the game.

The contest highlighted the athleticism and tactical play involved in high-level wheelchair basketball between Slovenia and Lithuania.
