Over 100 personnel were deployed on Saturday to manage an extensive fire located in the north of Primorska and Gorenjska regions, specifically near Planj. Following two demanding days of effort, teams successfully managed to surround the perimeter of the blaze by 6:00 PM. Efforts are scheduled to continue into the following day.
A significant mobilization effort was underway, drawing resources from numerous local units. Participating organizations included the Fire Brigade Bovec, Fire Brigade Kobarid, Fire Brigade Tolmin, Fire Brigade Tržič, Fire Brigade Škofja Loka, Fire Brigade Cerkno, Fire Brigade Bled-Bohinj, and Fire Brigade Idrija. Support was also provided by the Emergency Medical Aid unit from the Tolmin Hospital.
Additionally, two AirTractors and a helicopter are anticipated to assist in suppression efforts. Officials noted that while the overall area covered by the fire did not show significant change overnight, the situation remained dynamic. The emergence of new underground water sources necessitated that the various brigade units maintain intensive efforts.
The participation of the Fire Brigade Bovec was among the many crucial contributions ensuring a sustained response to the escalating incident. The coordinated deployment of manpower and specialized equipment reflects the scale of the ongoing challenge in the region.
