Ninth Graders Seek Clarity on Secondary School Admission Limits
A surge of inquiries is being directed at counselling services as ninth graders await details regarding admission limits impacting most secondary schools, particularly in larger cities. The limits apply to admissions based on a combination of factors, including the national test, which constitutes 40 percent of all enrolment points. Students have submitted applications to secondary schools prior to receiving results from the national test, reflecting a last-minute approach to securing placement.
Some applicants have experienced significant shifts in their ranking, with variations of up to 30 places observed in certain directions. “There was, for example, a difference in position of up to 30 places in one direction or the other,” stated Eva Kramar, a counselling worker at a technical school. School teachers concur that the NPR (National Proficiency Result) proved a valuable criterion, offering an alternative pathway for enrollment even for students initially unsuccessful through the standard admissions process.
The focus remains on providing timely information to students and their families regarding admissions to secondary schools.
