Due to disagreement with the President of the SDS, the session was interrupted

During today’s legislative session, procedural disagreements arose within the parliamentary committee regarding the proper handling of a specific resolution. Novakova, chairwoman of the committee in Svoboda, informed attendees that the relevant committee was authorized to vote on matters pertaining to the day’s agenda. She clarified that the proposed resolution, which urges the government to amend the law on protection against discrimination—specifically concerning the placement of the Advocate of the Principles of Equality within the framework of the Ombudsman—is designated for the DZ Committee for Justice, not the DZ Committee for Petitions, Human Rights and Equal Opportunities.

However, this assessment was challenged by SDS MP Anja Bah Žibert. She contended that the committee members should proceed with voting on the resolution, asserting that its subject matter is directly related to the agenda items scheduled for the current session. Novakova maintained her position, leading to an interruption of the proceedings.

The disagreement highlights a procedural dispute over jurisdictional authority within the legislative body. While the committee chair directed attention to the appropriate committee jurisdiction, another member argued that the subject matter required immediate consideration by the current committee. The outcome of the debate was inconclusive, resulting in the adjournment of the session.

Details regarding the date of the continuation of proceedings are expected to be published at a later time, pending resolution of the procedural matters before the committee.
