The Ministry of the Environment rejected the Ljubljana municipality’s request on July 16 concerning the repeal of an existing decision mandating an environmental impact assessment for a specific section of a route involving kinetic energy. During a press conference in Celje, the Minister for the Environment and Territory, Polona Rifelj, confirmed the Ministry’s decision. Minister Rifelj advised that the City Municipality of Ljubljana retains the option to challenge this ruling by initiating an administrative dispute before the administrative court.
She stated her belief that the municipality is likely to pursue this legal avenue. In addressing the ongoing procedural complexity, Rifelj indicated a desire to prevent redundant proceedings that could extend the process over several years. To this end, she announced plans to propose to the government on Thursday the revocation of the state attorney’s mandate and the withdrawal of the request for a review of the procedure before the Supreme Court.
