British Lando Norris achieved the best time on the second Friday practice session, despite missing the first one, where he was replaced by the current Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli. With his teammate Oscar Piastri, who set the second and third times on the Friday practice sessions, it seems that McLaren will be a competitive rival to Mercedes at the Barcelona circuit. First free practice was won by Russell, second by Norris Norris, who failed to finish the last two big races due to technical problems with his car, but despite an exciting start to the race weekend, he believes that much more work is needed before his car is competitive with Mercedes.
“It’s clear that the car works better, but it still doesn’t work as well as we would like, and there are still things that I’m not satisfied with,” he said.
