Another challenge for Janković: Mihael Jarc will be running for mayor of Ljubljana

Miha Jarc, a candidate for the city council, has made the repeal of the detailed spatial plan for Stanežiče a central component of his platform. Jarc criticized Mayor Zoran Janković’s plans, specifically citing intentions to construct blocks near existing forests and to relocate the Ljubljana Public Transport (LPP) technical base to an area designated for a garage and service activities. Jarc characterized these proposed developments as significant intrusions into the natural environment of Ljubljana.

As an alternative for Stanežiče, Jarc proposed dividing the land into parcels intended for the construction of 900 single-family homes. He stated that these residences would include sufficient space for two to three children and small gardens, with the goal of developing at least 450 homes alongside a facility for long-term elderly care. Beyond this specific development, Jarc outlined a broad vision for the city’s infrastructure.

His proposals include the construction of numerous new public facilities, such as a city hall, a library, a sports hall, a park, a school, a hospital, a cultural center, a museum, a cinema, a theater, a concert hall, and multiple new sports complexes and stadiums. Jarc’s candidacy emphasizes these comprehensive infrastructural overhauls, presenting them as necessary improvements for the city. This extensive list of proposed construction projects forms another major pillar of his campaign platform, aiming to reshape key areas of Ljubljana’s development.
