An astronaut of Slovenian origin will be the commander of the Artemis III mission

Artemis III mission is supposed to carry the first human crew to the Moon after more than half a century, according to the original plans, the first two astronauts are supposed to land near the Moon’s south pole and spend a week there, but NASA changed the plan in February, writes BBC. The mission will thus carry the crew, whose commander will be astronaut Randy Bresnik of Slovenian origin, only to low Earth orbit, a little further than the International Space Station ISS, where they will test landing modules for the Moon. NASA’s administrator Jared Isaacman said that the mission would still be the most complex ever.

The change in the plan came due to delays in the Starship rocket of Elon Musk and SpaceX. At the same time, NASA estimated that the mission of a human crew to the Moon would be too big a step without first testing the landing module.
